The culmination of the SHAP 2007-08 programme was the regional conference ‘West Midlands 2016: Delivering tomorrow’s housing today’ which took place in Birmingham on the 18th March 2008.
The conference brought together national and regional expertise on low carbon housing, and marked the launch of two major reports which form the output from the SHAP 2007-08 programme of work:
- West Midlands low carbon housing market framework: This report sets out a series of recommendations for the region, making the link between the regional housing policy framework and the Regional Climate Change, and outlining a model framework for local action to transform the housing market.
- Low carbon housing: lessons from best practice: This report presents the findings of action research exploring the lessons from over 20 case studies, together with engagement with stakeholders from both the public and private sector involved in planning, housebuilding, housing management and maintenance
The findings of the report were endorsed at the conference by Olwen Dutton on behalf of the West Midlands Regional Assembly. The reports can be downloaded here.
